GMDSI, and those who have contributed to it, have been fortunate enough to meet many like-minded colleagues in the course of carrying out their work. Some of our colleagues have contributed to GMDSI’s mission. Others have drawn inspiration from it, at the same time as we have drawn inspiration from their work.

The development, and innovative application, of numerical methods that can harvest information from data in the quest for scientifically-based environmental decision-making is a collegiate activity. It is also fun. It has this in common with implementation of the scientific method in general.

There much that we can learn from each other. Engaging in discussions on innovative ways to address long-standing problems of environmental and societal significance are  essential to finding solutions to these problems. GMDSI pursues these discussions through:

  • decision-support workshops and short courses;
  • occasional webinars;
  • occasional monographs;
  • the GMDSI home tutoring scheme.
