Download a slideshow that demonstrates the use of the MODFLOW 6 Groundwater Energy
Transport (GWE) model in simulating an open loop low temperature geothermal system. The
model is synthetic but based on a real-world aquifer. A Voronoi grid
(generated using ALGOMESH) is employed. Uncertainty is explored using random
hydraulic conductivity fields based on non-stationary geostatistics. Post-history-matching
uncertainties in temperature plume predictions are explored with a high level
of model run efficiency using an enhanced implementation of data space
inversion (DSI). The workflow offers a blueprint for many real-world design and
regulatory applications. A tutorial on implementation details will be available soon.
